  3. If you used email, confirm the message from ForFriendSake (check spam).
  4. Set a username and an optional photo.
  5. Allow location while using the app if you want to check in and use the map.

Common questions

How do I create or join a squad?

Create a squad from Compete / Home, then share the 8-character invite code. To join, enter a code. Codes rotate every 7 days and cap how many times they can be redeemed, so a screenshot that leaks out of the group will stop working.

How do points work?

Points are not awarded at the moment you check in. After the hangout ends, the server scores it based on turnout — how many of the people who said they'd come actually showed up. At least two check-ins are required to score. Members who return after three or more weeks away can add a comeback bonus.

Why can’t I check in?

You need to be within 250 metres of the activity pin, with Location Services on for ForFriendSake (While Using the App, Precise Location recommended). If you are further away, the app treats that as “not there yet,” not as a failure. Confirm the activity is still in its window.

How do leaderboards rank squads?

Squads are ranked worldwide and within your country, weekly and all-time. Rankings follow server-settled points, not a client estimate.

What kinds of chat are there?

A thread per squad, a thread per activity, and direct messages. DMs open automatically between people who already share a squad. Typing indicators, unread badges, and read state are included.

Can I join more than one squad?

Yes. You can belong to multiple squads and use each one’s chat, map pins, and hangouts.

How do I leave a squad?

Open the squad’s settings and choose Leave. You lose that squad’s chat and activity access. Points already settled for past hangouts stay on the squad’s history.

Is my location stored all day?

No. Location is used when you open the map or check in. See the privacy policy.

If something is broken

The app will not open

  • Force-close and reopen.
  • Update from the App Store.
  • Restart the device, then reinstall if it still fails.

Location

  1. Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → On.
  2. ForFriendSake → While Using the App.
  3. Turn Precise Location on for check-in accuracy.

Notifications

Settings → Notifications → ForFriendSake → Allow Notifications. Focus modes can also hold banners back. Signing out and in refreshes the push token.

Sign-in

Use the same method you created the account with (Apple, Google, or email). For email, check the verification message, including spam, sent from ForFriendSake.

Empty lists or stale data

Check the network, pull to refresh, then sign out and back in. If it continues, email support with the details in the table below.

Account

Edit your username and photo in Profile. Deleting your account is permanent. Squads you created, messages, and personal data are removed or anonymised within 30 days, except where we must keep records for law. Start from Settings in the app, or email support.

Safety

Use the report and block controls on a profile or a piece of content when you need them. Blocked people cannot keep chatting with you. For urgent harm, contact local authorities as well as us.
