1. Who we are
ForFriendSake (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is developed by Gurumanie Singh Dhiman. This policy applies to the ForFriendSake iOS app and this website. By using the app, you agree to this policy. If you do not, do not use the app.
Questions belong in Support or at support@forfriendsake.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following to run the product. If a row is not on this list, we are not collecting it for that purpose.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address | Account authentication and service email (for example verification mail from ForFriendSake) |
| Username | Display name in squads, chat, and leaderboards |
| Profile photo | Optional avatar in your profile and squads |
| Sign-in identifiers | Apple, Google, or email credentials handled by Firebase Authentication |
| Location, when you use the map or check in | Show nearby activities and verify you are within 250 metres of an activity pin. We do not track location in the background for this product’s check-in flow |
| Squad memberships, roles, and invite metadata | Create, join, and manage squads. Invite codes are 8 characters, rotate every 7 days, and cap redemptions |
| Activities created, RSVPs, and GPS check-ins | Planning, attendance, and server-side scoring |
| Points and leaderboard standings | Weekly and all-time ranks worldwide and by country |
| Messages in squad threads, activity threads, and DMs | Chat between people who already share a squad. DMs open automatically in that case |
| Device type, OS version, and push token | Deliver the app and send push notifications you have allowed |
We do not collect a phone number for sign-in. We do not run Firebase Analytics in the shipped app.
3. How we use it
| Purpose | Details |
|---|---|
| Account | Create and authenticate your account (Apple, Google, or email) |
| Core product | Squads, activities, map, GPS check-in, leaderboards, and chat |
| Scoring | Settle points on the server after a hangout ends, using turnout and any comeback bonus |
| Notifications | Push messages about squad and activity activity you have opted into |
| Security | Rate limits, invite-code controls, and abuse prevention |
| Legal | Comply with applicable law and valid legal requests |
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell it.
4. How it is visible to other people
Squad members see your username, profile photo, RSVPs, check-ins, and squad chat.
Leaderboards show squad names and points to other users of the app, worldwide and by country.
The map shows activity pins. If an activity belongs to a squad you are not in, you can request to join. Full chat and member detail stay with the squad.
This is not a product for meeting strangers, dating, or browsing open public squads.
5. Service providers
| Service | Role |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase | Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, and push delivery (FCM) |
| SendGrid | Account verification email |
| Apple | App Store distribution, Sign in with Apple, MapKit / Apple Maps place search, and on-device services |
| Google Sign-In | Optional authentication |
These parties see what they need to perform that work, under their own terms, and not for their own advertising on our behalf.
We may also disclose information if required by law or a valid request from a public authority.
6. Location
Location is read while you use the map or check in to an activity. Check-in only unlocks within 250 metres of the pin. Being further away is treated as “not there yet.” You can revoke location permission in iOS Settings. Without it, check-in and map features will not work fully.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest with our providers. Firestore security rules restrict reads and writes by account and squad membership. Invite codes expire, rotate, and cap uses. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise absolute security.
We do not claim end-to-end encryption of chat. Messages are stored so squadmates can read them.
8. Retention and deletion
We keep personal information for as long as your account exists and as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet legal duties. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise personal information within 30 days, except where we must retain it for law.
You can start deletion from the app (Settings) or by emailing support@forfriendsake.com.
9. Your choices
- Update profile details in the app.
- Control location and notification permission on the device.
- Leave a squad, which removes that squad’s chat and activity access.
- Request a copy of your personal data, or deletion, by emailing support.
10. Children
ForFriendSake is age-gated 13+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Users aged 13 to 17 should use the app with parental awareness, in line with Apple’s age rating.
11. International transfers
Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate, where privacy law may differ from your own. Using ForFriendSake means that transfer is part of the service.
12. California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the CCPA / CPRA, including the right to know, delete, correct, and not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information. To exercise a right, email support@forfriendsake.com.
13. Changes
When this policy changes, we update the date above. For significant changes we will try to notify you in the app on a later launch. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy. If you do not, stop using the app and ask us to delete your account.
